BRIAN PETERS' DATSUN 260Z
The 'red zed' was his daily driver until 1991. It became so rusted that he ended up having to park it and buy a new car.
In 1996, he decided to restore the z. Many people advised Brian to buy another one from the US that wasn't so rusted. But for Brian, it had to be his red zed and no other z would do.
Brian is the original owner of this red 1974 260Z.
Brian purchased his car on July 16, 1974 from Hugh Rider Ltd. on West Broadway in Vancouver, BC. At the time, they were the only dealership in the lower mainland that had a red one in stock.
Total purchase price including options, taxes and delivery was $6,199.75.
The restoration project was completed in 2001.
Brian and his wife Betty now enjoy participating in classic car shows throughout the lower mainland. His car has taken home numerous awards.
Brian had the car rebuilt to original, although some of the options that came with the car were left off. The mag wheels are the ones that were on the car when he bought it.
The car now has over 245,000 miles on the odometer.
The Red Zed was featured in the annual ICBC calendar in June 2005.
